Getting started with Assign Quantity – Workshop

The Getting Started Workshop for Assign Quantity helps you outline how your organization can benefit from fast, flexible, and intelligent quantity assignment in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. We guide you through key scenarios, help you understand how Assign Quantity improves sales order handling, and this workshop enables you to continue independently.

Workshop Deliverables

After this workshop you will have

  • A clear understanding of how Assign Quantity calculates availability and provides instant feedback when a customer requests a quantity.
  • Insights into how Assign Quantity creates soft reservations (assigned quantities) to ensure first‑come, first‑served allocation — and how flexible these assignments can be for Sales.
  • An overview of how the app suggests new shipment dates when full quantity cannot be delivered on the requested date.
  • An understanding of reassignment workflows, including how to update assignments when supply changes or new demand arrives.
  • A demonstration of how Assign Quantity helps the warehouse by ensuring warehouse shipments are only created for assigned quantities.
  • A first proof‑of‑concept using your example scenarios, ensuring you know how the app performs in real-world sales processes.

What we cover during the workshop

Assign Quantity on a Sales Line: The core flow of Assign Quantity, enter a quantity on a sales line, let the system immediately calculate assigned quantity and understand when full or partial assignment is possible. And how to review suggested shipment‑date changes.

Soft, Locked, and Specific Assignments: We cover the commercial benefits of having multiple assignment levels: soft assignments (flexible promises), locked assignments (fixed promises) and assignments tied to Item Tracking (specific reservations).

Reassigning and Updating Orders: We review how to reassign all orders when supply changes, for example when deliveries are delayed, quantities change, or new supply becomes available.

Vendor Performance Overview: How teams can use communication data to identify reliable suppliers, wendors who require extra follow‑up and bottlenecks across categories or geographical regions.

Assignment Status at Sales Header Level: We demonstrate how Sales can view an immediate overview of the entire order’s assignment status, improving communication with customers.

Warehouse‑Ready Fulfillment: How to ensure that warehouse teams only pick and ship what is actually assigned to improve accuracy and reduce errors.

Important Note

Due to the 3‑hour format, this workshop does not include full implementation, full setup of all assignment logic types, or integration to advanced warehouse processes. It focuses on examples, concept validation, and hands‑on understanding.

For additional consulting, full implementation support, or extended training please reach out to your representative at Abakion.
